Multi‑channel digital input terminals collect on‑site peripheral signals: fan failure alarm input, external minute‑pulse time‑sync signal and auxiliary status contact signals. Collected information is broadcast to rack CPUs through dedicated serial bus on backplane. One set of potential‑free relay contact outputs RUN status; contact closes when module works normally. Front‑panel green RUN LED indicates module operating health. The module runs autonomously, independent of user application program operation. Power is supplied by rack back‑plane, no separate external power wiring. Operating temperature 0℃ ~ +60℃, IP20 protection grade, only used inside closed control cabinet. Module weight approx 0.29kg.
On‑site application scenarios
Mainly deployed in power plant, pulp‑paper and chemical Advant DCS control cabinets. It collects cabinet auxiliary equipment state such as cooling fan fault, and receives external time‑sync minute pulse signal to realize system clock synchronous calibration for the whole controller rack. External monitoring system can read rack running condition via relay dry‑contact, achieving remote hardware health alarm. It is commonly used as maintenance spare for old Advant system overhaul and retrofit projects. No modification to main controller logic is needed after replacement, only confirm external signal wiring definition.
Installation & operating notes
Power off rack power before pulling out or inserting module. Hot‑swap operation is not supported, which may damage back‑plane bus circuit. Check rear connector pins for bending, dust and oxidation before installation, ensure complete locking. Define terminal signal function inside controller database according to actual field devices. Minute‑pulse signal wiring must follow specification to guarantee system clock synchronization accuracy. Dry‑contact load shall not exceed relay rated capacity, avoid contact burnout caused by over‑current. Keep cabinet ventilation good; dust accumulation on connector will cause signal collection abnormality. Do not open module housing on‑site; replace whole unit when hardware permanent fault occurs.
Common field phenomena & disposal thoughts
- RUN LED keeps dark after power‑on: Check back‑plane power supply output condition. Re‑seat module in rack slot. If back‑plane power is normal, internal hardware damage is suspected.
- Fan‑fault alarm reports falsely: Inspect fan‑signal wiring and terminal fastening status. Confirm signal level matches module input definition.
- System clock synchronization fails: Check minute‑pulse input signal wiring. Verify signal source output quality and terminal connection status.
- RUN relay contact cannot act: Check relay‑contact load current and voltage. If module LED displays normal running but contact does not close, internal relay unit is damaged.
- Intermittent status signal acquisition error: Check rack vibration condition and connector cleanliness. Eliminate nearby electromagnetic interference source.
