Main Functions
- Multi‑protocol communication stack processing: Executes Modbus‑TCP / Modbus‑RTU protocol, realizes bidirectional data exchange between excitation system and upper‑level automation system.
- Process‑data upload: Transmits generator voltage, current, excitation current, running status, alarm and fault event data from main processor to DCS/SCADA system.
- Remote command receiving & parsing: Receives remote set‑point, parameter modification and control instructions from upper system, forwards valid commands to main processor.
- Communication link diagnosis: Detects link break, frame error and abnormal response, reports communication fault codes to main processor.
- High‑speed data forwarding: Implements data transmission between VME back‑plane bus and physical communication ports, PPC380AE01 daughter‑board undertakes physical‑layer signal driving and conversion work.
- Board‑level self‑diagnosis: Monitors on‑board power supply, VME link status and daughter‑board contact reliability; uploads hardware‑fault alarm to UNITROL6000 system.
- On‑board multi‑LED status indication
- Green LED:Board power supply normal, board logic running healthy
- Yellow LED:External communication port data transmission active
- Red LED:Communication‑link fault / daughter‑board contact fault / board hardware fault alarm
Installation & Wiring Requirements
- Cut off cabinet total power before disassembly and assembly. Ensure PPC380AE01 daughter‑board is securely plugged onto UFC718AE01 mainboard; insert complete assembly into designated VME rack slot and lock front‑panel handles firmly. Hot‑swap is strictly forbidden.
- Connect Ethernet cable and serial shielded twisted‑pair cables to corresponding ports on PPC380AE01; strictly follow communication wiring specification, complete shielding grounding for communication cables to restrain electromagnetic interference.
- Cabinet protective grounding must comply with ABB AC800‑PEC / UNITROL6000 system grounding specification.
- After replacement, verify full‑system firmware compatibility with main processor board; download matching communication configuration parameters; perform communication bus scan and signal‑point verification test before unit commissioning.
- Replacement note: Cannot run independently; must match corresponding main‑processor hardware and full‑system firmware version; both UFC718AE01 mainboard and PPC380AE01 daughter‑board must be intact for normal communication function.
