Description
Basic Hardware Information
- Output channels: 16 individually galvanic‑isolated DC output points
- Operating output voltage: 10‑30 VDC; maximum 1 A continuous current per channelRockwell A…
- Isolation rating: 250 V continuous isolation between outputs and backplane; 125 V between adjacent output channels
- Backplane power draw: 350 mA @5.1 VDC, 2.5 mA @24 VDC; max power dissipation 3.6 W at full‑load status
- Mechanical structure: Standard single‑slot ControlLogix module; requires matching 36‑pin removable terminal block (1756‑TBCH / 1756‑TBS6H) for field wiring connection
- Status indicators: Front‑panel LED indicators for module health and each channel on‑off status
- Operating ambient temperature: 0 ℃ ~ +60 ℃; storage temperature ‑40 ℃ ~ +85 ℃; relative humidity 5‑95 % non‑condensing
- Software configuration: Set‑up completed via RSLogix 5000 programming software; supports channel‑level fault diagnosis and output state monitoring.
Core Functions & Features
- Independently‑isolated channel design blocks fault propagation. Short‑circuit on one field channel will not damage other output points or the PLC backplane bus.
- Source‑type transistor output drives DC loads such as solenoid valves, auxiliary relays and panel indicator lamps. Each channel allows 4 A short‑time surge current for inrush‑current loads within 10 ms.
- Built‑in diagnostic capability detects output open‑circuit and over‑current conditions. Fault information can be time‑stamped and uploaded to controller for system alarm logic.
- Supports hot‑swap replacement under powered‑on rack condition, reducing system downtime during module maintenance.
- Adopts producer‑consumer communication mode over ControlLogix backplane; output status data can be shared among multiple controllers within the same chassis.
On‑site Installation & Commissioning Notes
- Insert module into any free slot of ControlLogix chassis. Hot‑swap operation is allowed, but relevant field load power should be cut off during replacement for safety consideration.
- Install compatible 36‑pin removable terminal block. Use shielded twisted‑pair cables for field wiring, and separate discrete signal wires from high‑voltage power cables to suppress electromagnetic interference.
- Configure output parameters inside RSLogix 5000 software, enable corresponding diagnostic functions according to actual field load type.
- For inductive loads such as relays and solenoid coils, install external free‑wheeling diode at load terminals to absorb reverse electromotive force and protect transistor output.
- After wiring and configuration, perform manual on‑off test for each channel to verify actuator action and diagnostic feedback.
- Replacement note: Modules without channel‑to‑channel isolation cannot serve as direct drop‑in substitutes. Replacement must use identical part number.
Common On‑site Abnormal Conditions
‑ Channel cannot turn on: Loss of field‑side 24 VDC power supply, load open‑circuit failure or broken field wiring. ‑ Output point burns out: Missing free‑wheeling diode for inductive load, repeated surge current or field‑side short‑circuit fault. ‑ Module OK LED extinguished: ControlLogix backplane power failure or internal module hardware damage. ‑ Diagnostic false fault alarm: Improper load resistance, inconsistent parameter setting between software and real‑site device. ‑ Intermittent output action: Loose terminal‑block wiring, vibration‑induced poor contact on field connectors.
