On‑site application scenarios
Installed at site or inside control room, used to measure liquid flow of cooling‑water, process water for power plants, water‑treatment workshops and chemical facilities. Clamp‑on sensor installs outside pipe wall, no process shutdown required for sensor mounting. If transmitter fails, flow data will be lost, affecting production statistics and interlock logic. Used as maintenance spare for old Panametrics flow‑measurement projects. After replacement, input pipe parameter, medium parameter and sensor distance value, calibrate zero‑point and verify flow reading before putting online.
Installation & operating notes
Mount unit on solid wall, avoid strong vibration location. Keep transmitter away from high‑power equipment to reduce noise interference. Ultrasonic sensor shall be installed strictly following manual requirement; pipe surface treatment and sensor spacing directly decide measuring precision. Cables for ultrasonic transducer should adopt shielded cable, separate from power cables. Confirm AC power voltage range. Surge voltage will damage internal measuring circuit. Do not open sealed aluminum housing on‑site. Hardware fault needs whole‑unit replacement; random component‑level disassembly will invalidate measurement accuracy and certification.
Common field phenomena & disposal thoughts
- Screen no display: Check AC 100‑240V power supply and cable gland connection. If voltage is normal, internal power circuit damage is suspected.
- Flow reading zero / no valid signal: Inspect ultrasonic sensor installation condition, coupling grease status, transducer cable integrity. Check pipe medium whether contains excessive air bubbles.
- Measured value large deviation: Re‑check pipe diameter, wall‑thickness and material parameter setting. Confirm sensor spacing parameter matches factory value.
- Cannot communicate over Modbus: Check RS485 wiring, station address, baud‑rate setting. Eliminate ground potential difference interference.
- Reading jitter continuously: Reduce flow turbulence impact; check whether pipe inner‑wall scaling is serious; re‑optimize sensor installation position.
