Description
Basic Hardware Information
- Mounting: Standard 35 mm DIN‑rail snap‑on installation; compatible with panel mounting adapters
- Mechanical construction: Modular plug‑on design, each I/O module attaches to dedicated carrier base terminal unit
- Backplane bus: VersaMax internal expansion bus for data exchange between CPU, power supply and I/O modules
- Power input: System power supplied by IC200PWR‑series power supply modules; 24 VDC or 110‑240 VAC input options available
- Status indicators: LED indicators for module OK, run, fault, channel‑level status and network activity
- Operating ambient temperature: 0 ℃ ~ +60 ℃; storage temperature ‑40 ℃ ~ +85 ℃; relative humidity 5‑95 % non‑condensing
- Software tool: Configured and programmed via Proficy Machine Edition software; supports offline editing, online monitoring and firmware upgrade
- Handling note: Most I/O modules support hot‑swap under powered condition; CPU and power‑supply modules are non‑hot‑swappable. ESD‑sensitive hardware; anti‑static protection is required during maintenance work.
- Compliance: UL, cUL, CE certification; suitable for Class I Division 2 hazardous‑location installation for qualified variants.
Core Functional Categories
- CPU modules (IC200CPU‑ / IC200CPUE‑ series) Execute user logic, PID closed‑loop control and data processing. Equipped with serial ports or embedded Ethernet. Support up to 2048 discrete I/O points and large analog data sets; battery‑backed memory preserves runtime parameters and real‑time clock data during power loss.
- Power supply modules (IC200PWR‑ series) Convert field input voltage into stable 5 VDC and 3.3 VDC for VersaMax backplane bus, with overload, short‑circuit and reverse‑polarity protection for downstream modules.
- Discrete I/O modules Digital input modules collect field switch‑contact status; digital output modules drive solenoid valves, auxiliary relays and indicator lamps. Isolated and non‑isolated versions are available for different site noise environments.
- Analog & temperature modules Process 4‑20 mA, 0‑10 V analog signals; specialized modules support thermocouple and RTD sensor acquisition for temperature measurement. Provide channel‑level diagnostics including wire‑break and over‑range detection.
- Communication / Network interface modules Include Genius bus, PROFIBUS‑DP, DeviceNet and serial interface units. Realize data exchange between VersaMax system and upper‑level host, HMI or third‑party automation equipment.
On‑site Installation & Commissioning Notes
- Mount carrier bases securely on grounded 35 mm DIN‑rail. Avoid installation location with excessive vibration, high temperature and oil‑mist accumulation.
- For CPU and power‑supply replacement, cut off system input power. Hot‑swap may be performed for compatible I/O modules, yet cut related field‑side load power for safety considerations.
- Snap modules firmly onto carrier bases; poor seating will trigger communication faults or channel dropout.
- Use shielded twisted‑pair cables for analog and communication wiring. Separate signal cables from high‑voltage power cables to suppress electromagnetic interference.
- Complete hardware configuration inside Proficy Machine Edition software, define slot assignment, channel parameters and communication settings. Download project to target hardware.
- After commissioning, perform point‑to‑point test for I/O channels and verify communication link status. Periodically inspect CPU backup battery status to prevent parameter loss after power‑off.
