GE IC660ELB912J µGENI Genius Network Interface Daughterboard (Rev‑J),

IC660ELB912J is the latest hardware‑revision‑J µGENI daughter‑board for GE Genius field‑bus system. It is installed on PCIM carrier board IC660ELB921 / IC660ELB922, enabling host industrial computer or controller to operate as Genius‑bus master station. Revision‑J features upgraded component screening and improved anti‑aging performance, drop‑in compatible to replace older A‑H revisions of IC660ELB912 without hardware modification. It independently handles Genius bus timing, token passing, protocol processing and fault diagnosis, off‑loads bus workload from host CPU. Supports maximum 30 Genius remote I/O slave blocks on one bus trunk, implements global data, datagram and directed control data services. Widely used with Series 90‑70, SPEEDTRONIC and third‑party industrial host systems. Product status: Obsolete, spare‑part only supply available。

Main Functions

  1. Acts as Genius‑bus master controller, manages bus scheduling, token‑passing and all connected Genius remote I/O slave blocks. Direct drop‑in replacement for earlier IC660ELB912 A‑H revisions.
  2. Dual‑port shared RAM realizes high‑speed bidirectional data exchange between host CPU and Genius field‑bus I/O.
  3. Supports multiple communication services: cyclic global‑data broadcast, acyclic datagram message and directed‑control‑data for remote parameter download.
  4. Collects comprehensive bus‑diagnostic counters and slave‑block fault status, reports diagnostic events to host system.
  5. On‑board hardware watchdog; jumper configurable auto‑restart mode when watchdog timeout occurs.
  6. LED status indication (LEDs located on PCIM carrier board):   ‑ Green OK:µGENI board self‑test pass   ‑ COMM:Genius‑bus communication activity indicator   ‑ FAULT:Bus error / slave fault alarm

Installation & Wiring Requirements

  1. Cut off PCIM rack power before replacement. Hot‑swap is forbidden. Strict anti‑static protection when handling daughter‑board.
  2. Insert IC660ELB912J firmly onto PCIM carrier board; set baud‑rate jumpers consistent with all Genius slave blocks.
  3. Genius‑bus wiring strictly follow GE Genius hardware manual; use shielded twisted‑pair bus cable; install bus terminator resistor at both physical ends of bus trunk; separate bus cable from high‑power cables, connect shielding to dedicated protective ground terminal.
  4. Complete protective grounding according to GE system specification.
  5. After replacement: power‑on step‑by‑step, verify OK LED status, download Genius‑bus configuration, perform bus‑scan and full I/O‑loop commissioning test.
  6. Replacement note: Verify PCIM hardware and firmware compatibility; full Genius‑bus‑loop simulation test mandatory before unit put‑into‑service.
