On‑site Installation & Commissioning Notes
- Power‑off complete Series 90‑30 rack before installing or removing IC693BEM331; apply anti‑static protection. Fully seat module into baseplate slot until locking tab clicks firmly into place.
- Set front‑panel rotary hex‑switch to match physical slot‑number of this module on base‑plate.
- Use GE‑specified Genius shielded twisted‑pair trunk cable. Install bus terminators at both physical ends of Genius trunk‑line. Separate Genius bus cables from high‑voltage AC wiring to suppress EMI interference. Tighten DB‑9 connector fixing‑screws to prevent vibration‑loose contact.
- Complete hardware configuration within PLC programming software: define slot type as IC693BEM331, configure baud‑rate, redundant‑mode and Genius drop‑list parameters, download hardware‑configuration to CPU. Bus configuration will be stored inside BEM331 module memory.
- After commissioning, verify RUN and corresponding BUS‑ACTIVE LED status. Monitor Genius diagnostic bits inside programming software; verify data exchange between CPU and each Genius remote‑I/O drop. Simulate single‑bus failure to validate redundant switch‑over performance if redundant wiring is deployed.
- Replacement note: Other BEM series modules cannot serve as direct substitute. After replacement, confirm rotary slot‑address setting, re‑download Genius‑bus configuration and perform full remote‑I/O point validation test.
