GE IC698ETM001 PACSystems RX7i Ethernet Interface Module

IC698ETM001 is a single‑slot VME auxiliary Ethernet communication module for PACSystems RX7i platform. It is equipped with an independent 200‑MHz network processor, off‑loading Ethernet protocol processing from the main CPU to improve overall controller cycle‑time performance.

It provides dual auto‑sensing 10/100 Mbps RJ45 Ethernet ports with internal layer‑2 switch, plus one RS‑232 Station‑Manager diagnostic port. Supports EGD Class 2, SRTP, Modbus‑TCP Client/Server, EtherNet/IP and TCP/UDP socket services. It supports redundant‑IP addressing for network redundancy applications, maximum 16 concurrent TCP sessions. Module configuration is completed via Proficy Machine Edition software. Reference manual GFK‑2313. Product status: Obsolete, spare‑part supply only. RX7i VME backplane; hot‑swap is not supported.

Main Functions

  1. Off‑loads all Ethernet protocol processing tasks from RX7i main CPU, reducing CPU scan‑cycle overhead. Dual‑port Ethernet supports redundant network architecture via redundant‑IP function.
  2. Supports program download, HMI/SCADA connection, EGD peer‑to‑peer real‑time data exchange, Modbus‑TCP third‑party device communication and EtherNet/IP field‑device interconnection.
  3. Front‑panel LED indicators:   ‑ OK: Module power‑on self‑test passed   ‑ ONLINE: Module operational on VME backplane   ‑ P1 LINK/100: Port 1 link and 100 Mbps speed status   ‑ P2 LINK/100: Port 2 link and 100 Mbps speed status   ‑ STATUS: Network activity and fault condition indicator

Installation & Wiring Requirements

  1. Cut off full rack power supply before installation or replacement. Hot‑swap is not permitted. Apply ESD protection during module handling.
  2. Insert IC698ETM001 into any free VME slot of RX7i chassis and fasten module latch. Connect CAT5e shielded Ethernet cables to port 1 / port 2 according to network topology.
  3. Network cabling comply with manual GFK‑2313. Reliable protective‑ground connection for rack chassis is mandatory.
  4. After replacement: Power‑on rack power and check front‑panel LED status. Download module network configuration, configure IP addresses, subnet mask and gateway. Validate EGD data exchange, Modbus‑TCP read/write and network redundancy functions if applied.
  5. Replacement note: Total rack +5 VDC load calculation must include 1.5 A consumption of this module. Full‑system commissioning test is mandatory before putting into service.
