GE IS200EGDMH1AFF Exciter‑Field‑Ground‑Detector Module (EGDM)

IS200EGDMH1AFF is exciter field ground detection module for GE Mark VI Speedtronic control system and EX2100 generator excitation system. It is installed on EPBP exciter‑power backplane rack, works cooperatively with EXAM board and DSPX control board. It monitors insulation resistance of generator excitation field circuit, detects AC‑side and DC‑side field‑winding ground‑fault leakage, sends fault alarm and trip signal to main controller. Conformal‑coated PCB adapts to power‑plant harsh environment. Simplex configuration uses one unit; TMR triple‑redundant excitation system requires three EGDM modules for voting logic. Product status: Obsolete, spare‑part only supply available.

Main Functions

  1. Apply measuring excitation voltage to generator field circuit, calculate insulation resistance value of field winding and field cables.
  2. Detect ground‑leakage fault both on AC rectifier side and DC field‑winding side of excitation loop.
  3. Exchange fault‑diagnosis data with DSPX controller via fiber‑optic communication link.
  4. Hardware relay output for field‑ground‑fault alarm signal to turbine protection logic.
  5. Support simplex / TMR triple‑modular‑redundant configuration by backplane pin‑setting.
  6. On‑board self‑diagnosis: detect module power failure, measuring circuit abnormality, report fault status.
  7. Front‑panel LED status indication:
    • Green LED:Module power supply normal
    • Yellow LED:Measuring circuit active, fiber‑link communication ok
    • Red LED:Field‑circuit ground‑fault / module hardware fault

Installation & Wiring Requirements

  1. Cut off exciter‑rack power supply before replacement. Hot‑swap is forbidden. Take anti‑static protection when handling PCB board.
  2. Insert module fully into designated EPBP rack slot; confirm reliable backplane connector contact.
  3. Verify backplane pin‑configuration matches system redundancy mode (simplex / TMR).
  4. Field excitation‑monitoring wiring strictly follow GE EX2100 wiring manual GEI‑100467; separate high‑voltage measuring cables from low‑signal control cables.
  5. Complete protective grounding according to GE Speedtronic system specification.
  6. After replacement: perform insulation‑detection calibration, simulate ground‑fault test, verify alarm & trip‑logic response before commissioning.
  7. Replacement note: Confirm redundancy‑mode pin‑setting; cannot directly swap without function verification.
