Model pairing: 9852 (I/O card) + 9802 (FTA termination panel)
- 9852: 8-channel digital output, triple modular redundant architecture, 24VDC output rating. Supports hot swap in T9300 rack backplane. Built-in continuous channel diagnostics for wire break, short circuit and load failure. Powered by rack backplane.
- 9802: DIN rail mounted FTA, equipped with screw terminals for field instrument wiring. Each channel has built-in fuses and surge suppression components to protect the 9852 card from field-side electrical faults. Connected to 9852 via factory custom ribbon cable.
- Safety certification: SIL3 compliant, IEC61508 / IEC61511, UL and CE approved for safety instrumented loops.
- Supported system: ICS Triplex T9300 TMR SIS platform. This set cannot be used on Tricon CX or older classic Tricon v9/v11 systems.
- Operating environment: Operating temperature -40℃ ~ +70℃; storage temperature -40℃ ~ +85℃; relative humidity 5%–95% non-condensing. Designed for indoor cabinet installation only, IP20 protection.
- Installation rules: Keep signal cables separated from high voltage power cables. Use single-point shield grounding according to project engineering specs. Do not cut or splice the factory ribbon cable. Avoid pinching or sharp bending of cables during wiring. Disconnect field power before module or FTA maintenance work.
Physical Description
9852 features metal front panel with multi-color LED indicators for power, channel status and fault alarm. Gold-plated edge connector for rack insertion. Internal three independent redundant circuit slices for TMR voting. Marked with part number and serial code on the side label. 9802 termination assembly is housed in plastic DIN rail casing, green PCB inside. Front layout consists of screw terminals and channel status LEDs. Custom multi-pin connector for ribbon cable to rack card. It is a passive wiring panel without microprocessor.

Application Scenarios
This combined set is widely adopted in refineries, petrochemical complexes, gas compressor stations, thermal power plants and offshore platforms. It is deployed in ESD emergency shutdown, burner management and turbine protection safety loops. The 9852 card executes safety interlock logic and outputs trip commands to field solenoid valves. The 9802 FTA acts as the intermediate wiring panel, isolating field equipment from rack cards and limiting fault energy when short-circuit or surge occurs on field cables.
Maintenance Recommendations
Continuous on-board diagnostics will raise alarms once channel wiring, FTA protection components or connectors fail. All card and FTA operations require anti-static wristbands. Cut off related field loop power before disconnection. Routine inspection needs to check LED indication, terminal screw tightness, cable sheath condition and connector locking clips. After hardware replacement or rewiring, complete point-by-point signal simulation test, confirm all channels respond correctly and review system diagnostic logs. Spare parts should be stocked as complete sets. Once permanent damage occurs on PCB, terminals or cable pins, replace the whole assembly. Component-level repair or field cable splicing is prohibited.
Troubleshooting Checklist
- No output action: Check 24VDC field power, FTA terminal tightness, ribbon cable lock and channel fuse status.
- Intermittent output dropout: Inspect cabinet vibration, loose connectors, shield grounding, cable compression and wear.
- Single channel fault alarm: Usually caused by blown channel fuse, broken field wire or bent connector pins.
- Diagnostics error after hardware swap: Confirm 9852, 9802 and ribbon cable are fully compatible, double check pin assignment and software configuration download.
- Fuse repeatedly blown: Trace short circuit or overload on field solenoid and wiring insulation damage.
