- Safety certification: IEC61508 SIL3, TÜV, CE and UL approved for safety instrumented loops
- Power requirement: 24VDC backplane power supply, operating range 20~32VDC
- Onboard memory: Flash memory for firmware and application logic, RAM for real-time process data; supercapacitor for short-term data retention during power loss
- Communication ports: Redundant TRINet Ethernet ports for internal rack bus; serial ports for engineering download, HMI and DCS connection; IRIG-B time synchronization support for SOE sequence of event recording
- Supported software: Trusted engineering software for logic programming, configuration download, online monitoring and event viewing
- Hot swap: Supported, allows online card replacement without system shutdown following lockout-tagout procedures
- Compatible rack: ICS Triplex T8000 series rack system. Not interchangeable with T9300 or classic Tricon v9/v11 hardware
- Operating temperature: -40℃ ~ +70℃; storage temperature: -40℃ ~ +85℃; relative humidity 5%–95% non-condensing
- Enclosure rating: IP20, only installed inside indoor control cabinets
- Built-in diagnostics: Continuous hardware monitoring for backplane communication, power health, TMR slice mismatch, memory error and port link status. Fault alarms will be sent to engineering workstation.
- Installation guidelines: Mount on standard 19-inch rack backplane. Keep safety network cables separated from high-current power wiring. Configure network parameters and download project logic after full hardware assembly. Use anti-static protection for all card handling work.
Physical Attributes
Metal heavy-duty front panel with key lock switch and multi-color LED indicators for power, run status, redundancy fault and communication heartbeat. Gold-plated backplane edge connectors for reliable bus contact. Three independent processing boards inside to realize triple modular redundancy. Model and serial number printed clearly on the side label. Integrated passive heat sink for thermal dissipation.
Industrial Application
This processor serves as the core calculation unit for safety instrumented systems in petrochemical plants, oil refineries, gas compressor packages, thermal power stations and offshore platforms. It is deployed within ESD emergency shutdown, burner management and turbine protection safety loops. It collects real-time signals from analog and digital I/O modules, executes safety interlock algorithms, and outputs trip commands to field solenoid valves once process variables cross safety limits. It also transmits alarm and event data to upper DCS and operator HMI, and records time-stamped SOE events for post-fault analysis.
Maintenance Requirements
Continuous self-diagnosis monitors the health of every redundant slice and communication channel.
- Anti-static wristband must be worn during module insertion or removal.
- Inspect LED status, cabinet ventilation and backplane power during routine site inspection. Clean dust accumulation periodically to avoid overheating.
- After processor replacement, download complete project configuration and perform full loop simulation test to verify interlock logic works correctly.
- Keep spare processor modules on site. Replace the whole unit when permanent hardware failure occurs; component-level repair on site is forbidden.
Troubleshooting Checklist
- Module fails to boot and all LEDs off: Check rack 24VDC power supply, verify module seating on backplane, inspect backplane fuse status.
- Redundancy mismatch alarm: Compare firmware version of three slices, check backplane communication and run TMR hardware self-test.
- Communication heartbeat loss: Inspect Ethernet cable condition, connector cleanliness, network switch port status and IP parameter matching.
- Logic abnormal after replacement: Confirm full project download, verify firmware version compatibility, recheck hardware configuration table.
- High temperature warning: Check cabinet fan operation, remove dust on heat sink and reduce ambient temperature inside cabinet.
