2. Hardware Specifications
-
Electrical & Communication
‑Power: 24 VDC supplied by T8311 backplane; no separate power input for adapter itself.
‑Bus rate: 250 Mbps triplicated Hot‑link expander bus.
‑Max capacity: support up to 4 pcs T8300 expander chassis.
‑Copper cable TC‑301 max length: 36 m. For longer distance up to 10 km, use T8314 fibre transceiver units。
-
Mechanical & Interface
‑Back‑side SK1: double 96‑way DIN41612 Type‑C connector for T8311.
‑Front‑side: four locking 12‑pin ODU circular connectors for TC‑301 hot‑link cables to remote expander chassis.
‑Full metal shield housing for industrial EMC; clip‑on with release button.
‑No front‑panel LED indicators, no firmware, no onboard application software.
-
Environmental Conditions
‑Operating temperature:0℃ ~ +60℃; Storage temperature:‑25℃ ~ +70℃.
‑Relative humidity:10‑95 % non‑condensing; IP20 (inside cabinet); industrial shock & vibration resistance.
3. Key Functions
- Expander‑bus signal routing: As rear‑port extension for T8311 module, it distributes triplicated high‑speed expander‑bus signals to up to four remote T8310 expander‑processors for safe data exchange between main chassis and remote I/O chassis.
- EMC shielding protection: Integrated metallic shield enclosure protects TMR differential high‑speed signals against field electromagnetic interference.
- Locking circular connectors: ODU locking connectors prevent cable disconnection caused by mechanical vibration.
- Expander‑chassis logical addressing: Four ports correspond to logical chassis address 2‑5. Hardware DIP switch on each expander chassis must match port‑assigned address for system recognition.
4. Typical Applications
‑Petrochemical & chemical ESD emergency shutdown and F&G fire‑gas systems with distributed I/O cabinets.
‑Power‑plant and offshore oil‑gas SIS installations, one main controller driving 1‑4 remote I/O expander cabinets.
5. Important Notes
- T8312‑4 is passive adapter, cannot work standalone. Must pair with T8311 expander‑interface module inside main chassis. Not interchangeable with T8312‑7.
- Only original TC‑301 shielded hot‑link cables are allowed. Generic cables will invalidate SIL3 certification and cause communication instability.
- Each port connects one complete T8300 expander chassis which must be fitted with T8310 expander‑processor. Hardware address DIP‑switch setting shall match corresponding T8312‑4 port.
- For distance longer than copper limit 36 m, install T8314 fibre‑transceiver unit per link for fibre transmission up to 10 km.
- No firmware inside T8312‑4, no firmware‑matching work required. Firmware compatibility requirement applies to T8311 and T8310 processor modules only.
- If more than four expander chassis are needed, select T8312‑7 (max.7 chassis) or add second set of T8311+T8312‑4.
