Environmental Conditions
‑Operating temperature:0℃ ~ +60℃; Storage temperature:‑40℃ ~ +85℃
‑Relative humidity:5‑95 % non‑condensing; IP20 (inside cabinet). Full galvanic isolation via optical fibre for high noise immunity and ground‑loop elimination.
3. Key Functions
- Expander‑bus optical‑electrical conversion:Operates in pairs. Near‑end T8314 converts copper Hot‑link differential signals from T8312 adapter into optical signals. Remote‑end T8314 converts optical signals back to electrical signals feeding T8310 expander‑processor. It extends communication distance beyond copper TC‑301 limit of 36 m, up to 10 km for remote I/O cabinets.
- Galvanic isolation & noise immunity:Optical fibre provides complete electrical isolation, eliminating common‑mode interference and ground‑loop potential caused by large motors and variable‑speed drives in field environment.
- TMR triple‑channel safe transmission:Three fully independent optical channels following Trusted grey‑channel safety mechanism. Full TMR triple‑modular‑redundancy is maintained without invalidating SIL3 certificationRockwell A….
- Comprehensive link diagnostics:Real‑time monitoring for copper interface and optical‑link health. LED alarm for link failure; fault messages can be uploaded to Trusted system software.
- Dual‑power redundancy fault tolerance:Dual 24 VDC diode‑OR power input. The unit continues operation upon loss of one power feed, improving field power‑supply reliability.
4. Typical Applications
‑Off‑shore oil‑gas platforms, multi‑plant distributed SIS remote I/O cabinets.
‑Field sites with heavy electromagnetic interference and large ground‑potential difference; optical isolation suppresses disturbance.
5. Important Notes
- T8314 must be used in pairs: one near main chassis, one beside remote expander chassis; cannot operate standalone. One Hot‑link link requires three complete T8314 pairs for three TMR channels.
- Only single‑mode SC fibre is permitted. Multi‑mode fibre shall never be used, otherwise communication failure and SIL‑certificate invalidation will occur.
- Wiring path:Main‑chassis side:T8312‑4/T8312‑7 ODU port → short TC‑301 cable → near‑end T8314. Remote side:remote‑end T8314 → short TC‑301 cable → T8310 expander‑processor.
- No firmware onboard, no firmware‑matching requirement. Firmware compatibility applies only to T8311 and T8310 processor modules.
- For fibre runs longer than 2 km, route survey is recommended before installation; fibre‑length difference shall not exceed 15 mRockwell A….
- DIN‑rail standalone mounting; cannot plug into T8100 / T8300 chassis slots.
