3. Key Functions
- Channel‑wise TMR triple‑redundant 3‑2‑0 hardware voting:Each of 40 field signals is duplicated into three independent sampling circuits inside module, hardware 2‑out‑of‑3 voting executed. Single‑path fault is isolated automatically without disturbing corresponding channel or other channels, eliminating single‑point‑of‑failure risk.
- Per‑channel line diagnostics:Line‑monitor resistors fitted on FTA; line‑monitor function can be enabled / disabled channel‑by‑channel via software; timestamped fault messages uploaded to system software.
- Hardware local SOE reporting:Event timestamp generated on‑module with 1 ms accuracy for post‑incident safety analysis.
- Hot‑swap maintenance:Module can be replaced online; field wiring on FTA side remains connected; other I/O channels keep continuous operation.

4. Typical Applications

5. Important Notes
- Must pair with T8803 FTA, field cables cannot connect directly to module. T8803 is DIN‑rail mounted with per‑channel loop fuse protection; FTA is fully shared between T8403 and T8403C.
- When fitted inside T8300 expander chassis, T8310 expander‑processor must be present in same chassis.
- Firmware build‑version must strictly match module hardware variant. T8403 firmware cannot run on T8403C and vice‑versa; verify build‑number before spare‑part replacement.
- Line‑monitor function requires corresponding detection resistors on FTA and software enable per‑channel. Without enable only on‑off status is read without loop‑fault diagnosis.
- Supports dry‑contact as well as PNP/NPN active DC inputs. Not applicable for AC signals; select T8424 for AC digital‑input applications.
- Mechanical dimension and pin‑out are 100 % compatible between T8403 and T8403C for physical interchange, but firmware must be flashed matching exact part‑number.
- C‑Coat conformal coating protects printed‑circuit board only. Module must be installed inside suitable cabinet for hazardous‑area compliance.
