TRLC0NEX 3700A TMR Analog Input Module

The TRICONEX 3700A analog input module is a SIL3 certified triple modular redundant card for Tricon SIS. It collects analog voltage signals from field transmitters and converts raw analog signals into digital values for safety logic calculation. Three separate acquisition legs sample all channels simultaneously, adopting median selection voting to filter abnormal readings.
When a single leg fails, the system will only output diagnostic alarms, while data acquisition remains stable. If the whole module fails, all 32 analog feedback points will be lost, and related safety loops will execute pre-defined safe actions. Field instruments must be wired to matched terminal assemblies instead of direct connection onto the module board. It only fits Tricon TMR racks and cannot be used for other control platforms.

Description

Core Technical Parameters

  • Channel allocation: 32 differential analog input channels, DC coupled, 0-5V signal range.
  • Conversion performance: 12-bit resolution, overall accuracy less than 0.15% of full scale within 0~60℃.
  • Sampling cycle: 55ms update rate for all channels.
  • Input impedance: Minimum 30MΩ DC input resistance.
  • Internal communication: Transmit validated process data to main processors via TriBus proprietary high-speed bus.
  • Power supply: 20–32VDC backplane power supply, built-in reverse polarity and overvoltage protection. Hot-swap function available for racks with redundant spare slots.
  • Environmental specs: Operating temperature -40℃ ~ +70℃; storage temperature -40℃ ~ +85℃; relative humidity 5%–95% non-condensing. Conformal coating can be selected for cabinets with dust and mild corrosive gas.
  • Spare replacement reminder: Check firmware compatibility after replacement. Mismatched firmware may cause signal deviation or false channel fault alarms.

Physical Features

Rack plug-in analog input board. Front panel carries LED indicators showing module running state, triple leg synchronization and channel fault alerts. Gold finger connectors on the rear connect to rack backplane for power supply and TriBus data exchange. No field wiring terminals on the module itself. The model code is printed on the side of metal housing.

Field Application Cases

This analog input card is widely used in ESD emergency shutdown and F&G fire & gas cabinets of petrochemical plants, refineries, natural gas stations and offshore platforms. It receives analog signals from pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters and level sensors, then sends voting-filtered process values to Tricon processors for safety interlock judgment.

Maintenance Reminder: This is safety-critical I/O hardware. Complete module failure will cut off all 32 analog measuring points and disable associated safety monitoring loops. Regular inspection of diagnostic alarms is required.

Handling & Service Guidelines

  1. Wear anti-static wristband during module handling. Hot swap can be done on racks with redundant spare slots. Cut off rack power before replacement without redundant configuration.
  2. Use shielded twisted pair cables for field analog wiring. Separate signal cables from high-power motor and inverter cables to reduce electromagnetic interference. Tighten terminal screws properly to avoid drifting readings.
  3. Insert the module fully into rack slot to guarantee stable gold finger contact. Download validated project configuration and run point-by-point signal calibration test. Confirm analog sampling works normally and check system logs for version mismatch and bus warnings.
  4. Keep complete backup copies of project configuration files. Never disassemble damaged module on site; replace the whole unit directly once permanent hardware damage occurs.

On-site Troubleshooting Checklist

  • Multiple channels report loop faults: Inspect wiring on terminal base, check field cable open/short circuit and verify transmitter power supply.
  • Analog reading drifts or jumps: Check terminal tightness, cable shielding grounding and health status of field transmitters.
  • System triggers leg mismatch alerts: Verify firmware consistency of three legs, clean dust and oxidation on backplane gold fingers.
  • No LED lights on front panel: Check rack backplane power supply and confirm full module insertion.
  • All analog values freeze: Inspect TriBus link and running condition of main processor.
