- Electrical characteristics: Input range 185~285VAC, 47~63Hz. The module delivers multi-channel DC power output for Tricon backplane. Built with 2.5A time-delay fuse for internal circuit protection.
- Protection mechanism: Equipped with overvoltage, overcurrent, short-circuit and over-temperature protection. When faults are detected, the module will trigger alarm and cut output to avoid damaging other rack hardware.
- Redundancy & self-test: Supports N+1 redundant parallel operation. Continuous background diagnostics monitor output voltage, current and internal temperature. It pushes fault alerts to system diagnostic logs. Single power module failure will not shut down the whole safety rack under redundant setup.
- Installation property: Hot-swappable design. Online replacement can be performed without powering off the safety rack.
- Environmental specs: Operating temperature -40℃ ~ +70℃; storage temperature -40℃ ~ +85℃; relative humidity 5%–95% non-condensing. Metal housing is built to withstand vibration inside industrial control cabinets.
- Installation reminder: It fits classic Tricon racks such as 8110,8112,8120E. Not compatible with Tricon CX platform. Redundant power group must use modules of identical model; mixing different PSU models is forbidden.
Hardware Features
This is a rack plug-in power unit. Front panel is fitted with LED indicators for PASS, FAULT, ALARM and temperature warning. AC input terminals are placed on front panel for convenient field wiring. Rear gold finger contacts connect with chassis backplane to transmit DC power. Internal heat sink is designed for heat dissipation. Mechanical key prevents inserting the power module into CPU or I/O slots by mistake.
Application Scenarios
This power supply unit provides core power source for Tricon SIS racks. Widely applied in petrochemical plants, refineries, gas compressor stations, thermal power plants and offshore platforms for ESD emergency shutdown, burner management and turbomachinery protection systems. Redundant power arrangement eliminates single-point power failure risk and guarantees continuous running of safety instrument systems.
Maintenance Tip: This is safety-critical power hardware. With redundant power configuration, the faulty unit can be replaced online. If all power supplies fail, SIS rack will lose power and trigger pre-defined safe state. Daily maintenance needs to check LED status, cabinet temperature and input cable tightness.
Maintenance & Operation Guidelines
- Anti-static wristband must be worn during module handling. Hot-swap replacement is available for redundant power setup. Disconnect AC input wiring before removing the module.
- Keep cabinet ventilation smooth. Regularly remove dust on module surface and heat sink. Dust accumulation will cause overheating and intermittent power alarms. Keep corrosive vapor and liquid away from the cabinet.
- Insert the module fully into dedicated power slot. After installation, confirm PASS LED lights up normally. Check system diagnostic logs for power alarms. Test load sharing function when multiple power modules are installed.
- Prepare spare power modules of same model. Do not disassemble faulty power unit on site; replace the whole module when permanent hardware damage occurs.
Common Troubleshooting
- FAULT LED on: Inspect input voltage, wiring looseness, over-temperature and overload condition.
- Over-temperature alarm: Check cabinet fan, dust on heat sink and ambient cabinet temperature.
- Abnormal load sharing between redundant power modules: Confirm all power modules are same model, clean dust and oxidation on backplane gold fingers.
- No LED illumination: Verify AC input power and wiring connection.
- Intermittent power drop: Inspect cable aging, loose terminals and cabinet vibration.
