Description

Core Specifications

  • Channel layout: 32 digital output signal terminals, 24VDC nominal loop voltage.
  • Matching hardware: Works with Tricon 32-channel digital output modules. Connects to rack I/O card via dedicated multi-core flat ribbon cable.
  • Wiring structure: Screw type terminal blocks, supports solid and stranded copper wires. Each channel has built-in signal conditioning components.
  • Platform compatibility: Classic Tricon v9~v11 systems. Passive DIN rail mounted panel, no backplane gold fingers and cannot plug into rack slots. Not compatible with Tricon CX.
  • Environmental parameters: Operating temperature -40℃ ~ +70℃; storage temperature -40℃ ~ +85℃; relative humidity 5%–95% non-condensing. Shock and vibration resistant for cabinet installation.
  • Installation reminder: Unused output channels require matched load resistors, otherwise system will trigger missing-load diagnostic alarm. Verify cable pin assignment before powering on.

Physical Construction

PCB assembly fitted inside green plastic housing. Front side contains screw terminal blocks for field actuator wiring. Dedicated multi-pin connector on the board is used for ribbon cable linking to Tricon DO module. Channels are clearly numbered for quick identification. Model number is printed on the housing surface.

Application Areas

This termination panel is widely used in petrochemical plants, refineries, gas compressor stations, thermal power plants and offshore platforms. It supports ESD emergency shutdown, burner management, turbomachinery protection and fire & gas safety systems. It transmits trip commands from SIS output modules to solenoid valves and safety relays. Built-in circuit protection prevents field short-circuit from damaging expensive Tricon I/O cards.

Maintenance Note: This is safety-related signal wiring hardware. Fault on single channel only affects that loop, other channels can keep running. Routine maintenance should check terminal tightness and cable insulation.

Operation & Maintenance Suggestions

  1. Wear anti-static wristband before wiring modification. Cut off 24VDC field power supply before touching terminals to avoid surge damage.
  2. Keep cabinet air circulation and cleanliness. Dust accumulated on terminals may lead to intermittent signal dropout. Prevent corrosive vapor and liquid from touching PCB.
  3. After wiring completion, connect ribbon cable between termination panel and DO module. Run point-by-point output simulation test, verify field actuators respond correctly, check system diagnostic logs for load or short-circuit alarms.
  4. Store spare termination panels. Do not modify PCB components on site; replace the whole panel once permanent PCB damage occurs.

Common Fault Handling

  • Actuator fails to trigger: Check 24VDC loop power, terminal tightness, ribbon cable connection and channel diagnostic status.
  • Missing-load alarm: Install required load resistor on idle channels.
  • Intermittent output loss: Inspect terminal oxidation, cabinet vibration and cable aging.
  • Multiple channels no output: Check shared common power terminal connection.
  • Short-circuit alarm: Look for cable insulation breakdown or coil short on field actuators.
