Description

Core Specifications

  • Channel allocation: 16 differential analog input channels, supporting 4~20mA, 0~5VDC, 0~10VDC, ±5VDC signals.
  • Onboard circuit: 180Ω series current limiting resistor on each positive channel; 250Ω precision resistor for current-to-voltage conversion. Diode OR circuit supports redundant 24VDC instrument power supplyManualsLib.
  • Matching requirement: One 32-point Tricon analog input module requires two 9771-210 panels. Supplied with two sets of channel labels (1–16 / 17–32). Connected to AI module by dedicated flat ribbon cableManualsLib.
  • Wiring structure: Screw terminal blocks, compatible with solid or stranded copper instrument cables. Clear channel marking for field inspection.
  • Platform compatibility: Classic Tricon v9~v11 system. Passive DIN rail mount panel, no backplane gold fingers and cannot be inserted into rack slots. Not compatible with Tricon CX.
  • Environmental specs: Operating temperature -40℃ ~ +70℃; storage temperature -40℃ ~ +85℃; relative humidity 5%–95% non-condensing. Vibration resistant for cabinet installation.
  • Installation reminder: This is passive hardware without logic chips. Shield wire grounding must follow SIS project specification to reduce electromagnetic noise. Verify ribbon cable pin assignment before power-up.

Physical Construction

PCB assembly inside green plastic housing. Front panel fitted with multi-channel screw terminals for field transmitter wiring. Onboard precision conversion resistors and current limiting resistors. A multi-pin connector is reserved for ribbon cable connection to Tricon AI module. Channel numbers are printed on panel surface for easy identification.

Application Areas

This termination panel is widely deployed in petrochemical plants, refineries, gas compressor stations, thermal power plants and offshore platforms. It is used for ESD emergency shutdown, burner management, turbomachinery protection and fire & gas safety systems. It collects analog measurement signals from pressure, level and temperature transmitters. The built-in resistors realize signal conversion and offer protection to avoid surge damage to Tricon AI modules from field wiring faults.

Maintenance Note: This is safety-related signal marshaling hardware. Single channel fault only affects that measurement loop, other analog points keep working normally. Routine maintenance should check terminal tightness, cable insulation and shielding grounding condition.

Operation & Maintenance Suggestions

  1. Wear anti-static wristband before wiring modification. Cut off 24VDC instrument power before touching terminals to prevent current surge damage.
  2. Keep cabinet interior clean. Dust buildup on terminals will lead to signal fluctuation and measurement drift. Prevent corrosive vapor and liquid from contacting PCB and terminals.
  3. After wiring completion, connect ribbon cable between panel and AI module. Run point-by-point signal simulation test, confirm analog reading stable, and check system diagnostic logs for overrange alarms.
  4. Store spare panels of identical model. Do not replace onboard precision resistors randomly on site; replace the whole panel once PCB suffers permanent damage.

Common Fault Handling

  • Analog reading zero or full scale: Check transmitter power supply, terminal looseness, cable breakage and resistor integrity.
  • Unstable drifting signal: Inspect poor shield grounding, loose terminals and electromagnetic interference.
  • Overrange alarm: Verify transmitter range setting, check wiring polarity and cable short circuit.
  • Multiple channels abnormal: Check redundant 24VDC power and common ground connection.
  • No signal after panel replacement: Confirm panel matches AI module, inspect ribbon cable pin definition.
