- Replacement reminder: Do not mix‑use with older revision 1C31179G01. After replacement, verify DCS hardware database and online status of remote I/O drops.
Field Application Experience
Commonly used in thermal‑power DCS cabinets. It extends high‑speed highway bus via fiber optics to distributed remote I/O cabinets. Board failure will cause loss of communication for all remote I/O drops on four fiber links. Redundant DPU configuration allows standby controller to take over automatically to reduce process outage risk.
Power off rack before physical replacement and follow ESD protection rules. Protect backplane golden contacts from damage. Keep fiber connectors dust‑free; dirty fiber end‑faces frequently result in intermittent communication issues. After hardware swap, lock all fiber connectors firmly, download system hardware configuration, confirm remote I/O drops go online and verify process point readings.
Common Field Troubleshooting Points
- Partial remote drops offline: Inspect fiber end‑face cleanliness, fiber cable damage and module link LED status.
- System reports hardware mismatch alarm: Confirm mating base is 1C31181G02 and cross‑check DCS hardware database.
- Intermittent communication instability: Caused by poor cabinet ventilation, dust accumulation or loose fiber connectors.
- All four channels no response: Check rack backplane power supply and ensure module is fully seated in slot.
