GE IC693CHS391 Series 90‑30 10‑Slot CPU Main Baseplate

IC693CHS391 is the primary CPU baseplate for GE Fanuc Series‑90‑30 PLC platform. It is the main rack backplane, provides mechanical mounting and parallel backplane bus signal interconnection for CPU, power supply, I/O and special‑function modules. It contains 1 dedicated CPU slot plus 9 I/O/option‑module slots; power supply occupies independent left‑hand position, not counted within the 10 slots total. A 25‑pin female expansion connector is located on the right side for connecting extension baseplates via dedicated expansion cable. The maximum quantity of extension racks depends on CPU model: CPU331/340/341 support up to 4 total racks; CPU350 supports up to 7 total racks. Compatible with all IC693 series modules. Product status: Obsolete, spare‑part only supply available.

Main Functions

  1. Main mechanical rack for Series‑90‑30 system, provides mounting slots for CPU, power‑supply, digital‑I/O, analog‑I/O, communication and motion modules.
  2. Realizes parallel backplane bus signal routing, completes high‑speed data communication between CPU and all plug‑in modules.
  3. 25‑pin expansion port supports connection to additional expansion baseplates to enlarge system I/O capacity.

Installation & Wiring Requirements

  1. Cut off all PLC rack power before replacement. Hot‑swap is forbidden. Strict anti‑static protection when handling baseplate.
  2. Secure IC693CHS391 onto DIN‑rail or control cabinet panel; install power‑supply module at left‑most position; insert CPU and each I/O/option module into respective slots and lock latches.
  3. If using expansion racks, connect dedicated GE expansion‑cable between 25‑pin port of main baseplate and expansion baseplate.
  4. Complete protective grounding according to GE Series‑90‑30 hardware manual specification.
  5. After replacement:power‑on rack, verify CPU power‑on and self‑diagnosis status, download PLC hardware configuration, test all local and expansion‑rack module communication.
  6. Replacement note: Calculate total 5 VDC current consumption of all modules to avoid power‑supply overload; verify CPU supports configured total rack quantity; full system commissioning test mandatory before unit put‑into‑service.
